The Shock Doctrine and the Economic Hitman

The Shock Doctrine by Alfonso Cuarón and Naomi Klein

This first 6 minute video shows how the neoliberal model has been implemented globally. Naomi Klein's latest book, The Shock Doctrine, excellently documents the story of economic shock 'therapy' applied to countries, just as in the way that shock torture is applied to bodies of prisoners in psychological terrorism.

With the blank slate provided through the shocks of coups, war, natural disasters and/or other destabilizing events, 'the only alternative' is the prescription of neoliberal economic policies (the pride and joy of Milton Freidman and the 'Chicago Boys').

The second video in this post is a talk given by John Perkins, author of Confessions of an Economic Hitman, in which he describes the process of post-shock implementation of neoliberalism, from the mouth of a 'hitman', in his own words.

These videos must be seen together.
